The Appeal
The Range Rover was launched as a two-door, but as soon as a more practical four-door variant came along, people, by and large, stopped ordering them. That makes later two-door models rare and increasingly sought-after since collectors now value the purer silhouette. This 1987 Range Rover Classic began life as the lesser-seen two-seat commercial variant, made rarer still by its combination of the 3,528 cc V8 engine, auto gearbox and air conditioning .
This Range Rover benefits from having been heavily rustproofed both when new and again in 1996, which should stand it in good stead structurally. Just recently, it received a new fuel tank, a service and tune, and two new batteries for its twin-battery system. The vendor states that it starts and drives very well, with a quiet engine, smooth gear changes, and very good suspension, brakes, and handling.
The paintwork is older and in well-worn condition, and the vendor notes that the vehicle is due for a restoration. It will be supplied with a rear bench seat and two rear sliding windows to allow conversion from its Danish-market commercial configuration. Currently EU registered in Denmark, it is imported to the UK with duty and taxes still to pay. The vendor notes that import into other EU countries is straightforward.
For those seeking a characterful two-door Range Rover with a rare specification, this is well worth a closer look.image.png1.36 MB
