The Appeal
The original 986 Boxster was a revelation, a car different to but in many ways the equal of the 996 991. No surprise perhaps because the two cars shared DNA.
The arrival of the 3.2 litre 245bhp S in 2000 addressed minor grumbles about the performance of the standard car. These early cars are now particularly sought after by collectors because of the extra power fully exploits the capabilities of that brilliant chassis.
This 986 S is a chance to experience those qualities in a car where someone else has made all the investment. The recent work includes an engine-out rebuild alongside extensive further work including replacing the IMS bearing, clutch and water pump. The result is a low mileage car with the desirable 6spd manual that is ready to use and enjoy. The vendor reports that it drives and runs as it should, that everything works and there is MOT to December 2024.
