What comes to mind when you set your eyes on an Italian automobile? Its unique style? The way it handles smoothly or its comfortability when you ride in it? We’d like to tell you it’s all of the above.

The Spider name was first used on an Alfa in the 1955 when the convertible version of the Giulietta arrived. The Alfa Romeo Spider and Alfa Romeo GTV were two sports cars produced by the Italian manufacturers between 1995 to 2006. Known by the internal Alfa Romeo designation 916, the GTV is a 2+2 coupé, and this (Y243BCE) Spider is a two-seater cabriolet version of the GTV.

Although this Silver Italian vehicle had its keys exchanged 5 times, it still retains its original beauty and luxury, which goes to show that all its previous owners have enjoyed driving this Italian beauty. 

The current owner had the vehicle for over 10 years and has cherished every mile with it, generally around the Cambridge area.

The car has had some modifications done by the previous owners, including new mechanical parts, an Alpine disc CD changer and custom exhaust mounting. 

Having moved into town and owning 4 other vehicles, the owner has decided to let this Italian roadster have someone else behind the wheel, as he couldn’t cope with the expenses.

The owner possess the original V5C document issued by the DVLA to confirm proof of ownership, specifications, addresses and history. The car has a full specialist service and maintenance record as well. The owner has also kept and maintained the original Spider GTV Handbook and service book of the vehicle. 

Other paperwork includes a history file containing various old MOTs, invoices, and the current MOT certificate valid until January 2022. You won’t find such an appreciative automobile owner who values his car. 

There's a receipt for some of the recent repairs which includes two new CV boots and repairs to the exhaust as these items were advisories on the last MOT.

The interior has a more functional look and quality feel. Its controls aren’t laid out in an ergonomic fashion; however, its pedals are well spaced and perfect for heel-and-toe down changes – and it’s not screwed together with the same meticulous precision as its German rivals of the time.

Its interior showcases black leather seats, adding to the element of functionality over luxury, alongside boasting a black dashboard that pairs well with the black knobs. The boot is perfect for soft sports bag and includes a 6-disc CD player by Alpine.

The automatic hood system is also in great condition and it works flawlessly.

The vehicles overall condition is much better than average for its age. The Grigio Chiaro metallic body paint on it makes it look sublime and remains in good condition till date. It has absolutely no crazing or damaged area, although it does have some minor road chips as to be expected. 

It flaunts a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, which still retains its lustre to this day. With the bonus of a soft-top convertible hood and a rear that looks like Porsche, this car is the whole package. Its wedge shape profile makes it look distinctive, while its heart shaped grille means it’s recognisably an Alfa Romeo. 

The 2 liter Twin Spark engine of this car is mechanically sound, and transmission all operates correctly. Not only does it make a glorious noise, but with polished intake tracts it looks spectacular too. 

This Italian beauty can take you from 0-60 mph in under 8.9 seconds. With a top speed of 131 mph it can take you places not only fast but also with a sharp and smooth handling. 

Additionally, the car has a new alloy strut bar placed under its current ownership.

The appeal of owning an Alfa Spider GTV speaks for itself, it is a car that really connects you to the road. Nothing sounds much better than this 2.0 liter engine on a beautiful day, and the smile it brings to your face as you drive it. 

The car’s character and flair are key to its appeal, rather than out-and-out performance. It’s been said that Alfa Romeo seemed to be trying to create a mini-Ferrari with the GTV model, and with that Pininfarina style and the beautiful engines, it would be hard to compare it to anything else.
