2004 TVR T350T

Photos provided by the vendor

Highlights

  • Rare Targa model with removable roof sections
  • Two owners from new - purchased by a colleague of the vendor in 2004, and purchased by the present owner in June 2010
  • Original and well preserved, having been stored indoors since new
  • Impeccably maintained in the thirteen years by the vendor, who is a mechanical engineer.
  • Accompanied by its desirable private registration ‘X8OMB’
  • To be supplied with a new MOT - booked in for the first week of July 2023
  • Low 30,000 miles, with just 4,000 covered in the last thirteen years of current ownership

The Appeal

The T350 came about when TVR took the Tamora’s capable 350 bhp, 3.6-litre straight-six and enveloped it in a unique new body shell. Television’s Jeremy Clarkson remarked that  “by some considerable margin, this is the best TVR I’ve ever driven” and EVO Magazine were similarly quick to praise the T350’s “supercar-slaying performance”...
We’re delighted to offer this striking and quite rare T350T - (the last letter signifying the lesser seen Targa roof model). With wild styling, pearlescent paintwork and a vocal exhaust, this TVR is unlikely to pass by anywhere unnoticed and this particular example is a very fine specimen indeed.

The vendor acquired it thirteen years ago, although they’ve known this car since new, as the original owner was their then work colleague. We understand that it has been dry stored throughout its life and mere 30,000 miles on the road. A mechanical engineer by profession, the vendor has been able to maintain this car in their highly equipped workshop which has ensured it remains in fantastic order. It’s a very original example too, with no later modifications to be seen. It is said to drive brilliantly and the vendor does not report any issues.
If you’re looking for an exemplary example of this lesser seen yet esteemed TVR, then this could well be the one you’ve always wanted.

The History and Paperwork

  • Acquired new in 2004 by the vendor’s then colleague
  • Acquired by the vendor from the original owner in 2010
  • We’re informed that the car has been in dry storage throughout its life
  • To be offered with a fresh MOT and the vendor says it shall be booked in for testing in the first week of July 2023
  • Acquired at c. 26,000 miles and the vendor has covered approximately 4,000 miles in their thirteen-year custodianship
  • Very original, unrestored and with no later modifications
  • Supplied with a copy of the Graham Varley Workshop manual - which the vendor comments is difficult to come by
  • Serviced by the vendor - a mechanical engineer
  • The private registration ‘X8 OMB’ shall remain on the car
  • V5C present
  • A collection of various invoices and assorted paperwork accompanied the car

The Interior

  • Original factory specification
  • The seats have been recovered by the same people who originally upholstered the in period
  • The vendor reports that everything works
In typical TVR fashion, this T350T’s interior is as space-age as the exterior. It’s dominated by sculptural curves and trimmed in the attractive two-tone scheme of blue and grey.
The vendor is keen to point out that there are no modifications, so everything you see and touch is as TVR intended. When the vendor acquired the car, one of the seats was apparently marked and so they found the trimmers who TVR had used in the period and requested that they recover the seats in the original materials. This has evidently been carried out to a great standard and as a result, there's little in the way of wear to the bolsters.
We noticed some light wear to the blue carpeting, but otherwise there are remarkably few signs of use. The dashboard presents well, as does the headlining and the vendor informs us that all the cabin electrics work correctly. There’s a Pioneer radio, although we doubt it gets much use with such a fine-sounding engine…

The Exterior

  • Pearlescent finish
  • All original paint and bodywork
  • The vendor reports that the underside is in excellent order
  • Removable targa roof sections, which the vendor says to be completely watertight
It’s normally at this point that we point out a car’s colour, but with this TVR it is rather hard to pin down. The curious pearlescent paint finish is quite something and every angel reveals a different hue. In more neutral light, the car appears silver, but under sunlight, its curvaceous bodywork takes on a rain-box spectrum of bright colours.
The vendor remarks that the car’s exterior finish is entirely original and so it certainly remains in great condition when you consider its age. There are a couple of small marks on the wheels and we’re sure you’ll eventually find the odd stone chip on the body, but overall, this is an immensely tidy example which should be commended for its originality. We’re informed that the underside is very sound and we note the bodywork to be immensely straight. It has never been involved in an accident, which is evident from the car’s overall great condition.
The removable targa roof sections can be put in a bag in the rear of the car when removed and when in place, we understand the cabin to be entirely watertight.

The Mechanics

  • 3.6-litre straight-six shared with the Tamora
  • TVR quoted power output of 350 bhp
  • Five-speed manual gearbox
  • Supplied with ECU connector and Anderson plug jump leads
  • The vendor is not aware of any mechanical faults
  • All fluids have reportedly been changed recently
  • The vendor rebuilt the electric power steering pump as it had a faulty internal valve
TVRs never disappoint when you put your foot down. On the contrary, owners find they have to be incredibly respectful of these high performance machines. This T350T is said to start, run and drive impeccably - selecting gears smoothly and braking as it should. The only issue the vendor has encountered is a steering pump fault, which they have rectified themselves.
It is supplied with a ECU connector for fault finding, as well as some instructions on how to use it. Another useful accessory is the set of Anderson plug jump leads which are compatible with this car’s electrical system.

Summary

Every petrolhead should own a TVR at some point and few embody the spirit and frankly, the madness of TVR quite like this Pearlescent T350T.
Presented in amazing original condition both mechanically and cosmetically, this is fabulous example, the likes of which you’re unlikely to find any time soon.
