The History
The “Peoples” car is the most iconic car ever produced, the “Bug” is famous worldwide and has been in production since 1938 right up to 2003 where production ceased in Mexico. Famed on screen by the classic Herbie films and the brainchild of Ferdinand Porsche and Adolf Hitler, the design and flexibility of this quirky car has been a classic for young and older generations of drivers.
The Background
In Aquarius blue this “Ultima” edition comes with whitewall tyres, Pioneer CD player, electric sunroof and 1.6 engine, this end of line model stands out from the crowd, a real part of motoring history with low mileage awaits the next owner and a chance to own a car with over sixty five years of history to its name in this classic guise.
The Paperwork
The car has had 5 owners including the current one, no paperwork with current owner apart from the original manuals and booklets shown in the photographs. An extensive service and maintenance was carried out in 2012. The owner has had the Beetle since June 2012 and only covered 3000 kilometres since.
The Interior
The “Ultima” edition has some unique additions to the interior of the cabin, the chrome Volkswagen badge on the glovebox, CD player, fully functional electric sunroof, all grey cloth interior that is in superb condition and tinted glass that is clear and has no chips or scratches present.
The wood steering wheel is mark free, and the gear shift, peddles and electrics are in good working order. Door cards are clean as are the floor carpets and trims. Headlining is clean and in good order.
The Exterior
The Aquarius Blue paintwork is in good condition, there are dents on the bottom left of the bonnet, and some slight rust on the near side bottom door. Tyres have good tread and the bumpers are in relatively good condition, just some marks visible on the rear bumper. Roof is clear of any damage and the electric sunroof opens freely, a nice addition to this model.
The Mechanics
The car since in the current ownership has had very little use, it has been used as a daily driver over the last few months and according to the seller drives without any issues at all.
Back in July 2012 the current owner a full service carried out which resulted in a £1700 bill, this covered rear hubs and seal gaskets, gearbox oil and fluids, alternator belt was checked and this was registered at 48,586 miles. Since then the car has covered only 3000 kilometres.
The Appeal
It goes without saying that everyone loves the Beetle, it is a style icon, the peoples car and this “Ultima” edition is a rare car, only 3000 were produced at the end of production which makes this a unique Beetle to own.
