2005 Aston Martin DB9 Volante

Highlights

  • Low mileage example
  • Exceptional service history
  • Rare and interesting spec
  • Only 3 previous owners from new

The Appeal

The DB9 is among the list of prestige cars which you have to be living under a rock to not understand the significance of.

Between the pedigree of the Aston Martin brand name, and the movie screen presence that it has been given over the years.

This is a car that will live on in people's hearts forever!

The History and Paperwork

  • 15 recorded services (mainly from Aston main dealers)
  • Current owner purchased in Sept 2021
  • Current V5 available
  • MOT valid until Feb 2023
  • Few advisories
  • Healthy paper trail of invoices
  • Full health check in 2021 by David Phillips Specialist Motor Engineers

The Interior

  • Original green leather interior
  • Black vinyl wrapped centre dash and door cards (easily removed)
  • Woodgrain underneath vinyl wrap
  • Factory centre console and CD player
  • Alcantara A-pillars
Finished in a rare and quite unique green leather, this Aston’s spec is something to behold.

Given that this is a low mileage example, the leather itself is in quite nice condition with only minimal signs of wear and tear like the usual creasing and some very minute scuffs here and there on the front seats.

The rear seats look as though they have been very rarely used - however you’d be pretty cramped back there! The seats all still retain their shape very well and are as comfortable as you’d expect them to be. A very nice place to be - especially with the top down!
The original wood grain panels have been wrapped in black vinyl by a previous owner to make the car appear a little more modern - however this is easily removed if a new owner wishes to do so and retain a more original appearance.

The centre console itself retains all of its functionality with its buttons and gauges - and the analogue clock still functions too which is a lovely feature to have.
The interior door panels are in good shape - the driver side panel does have some paint chips on the silver plastic portions as can be seen in the photographs, the passenger side door panel doesn’t share the same flaws, it appears to be in rather perfect condition.

Outside of this - there isn’t much to pick out. The vehicle is a very good example and one that has been cared for over the years.

An extremely enjoyable purchase for anyone.

The Exterior

  • 39,990 miles
  • All original paint and bodywork
  • Beautiful silver paintwork
  • Original alloys
  • Fully functional soft-top
The first thing to notice about this DB9 is the beautiful paintwork, registered as silver however it seems to have an almost brown or bronze flake throughout.

It’s a very classy and elegant colour which just seems to add to the luxurious experience here.

The paintwork itself is in good condition for a 17-year-old car, however it does have the usual stone chips at the front of the vehicle like you’d expect, along with some scuff marks under the front grill due to how low the front sits to the ground.

Aside from this, it’s very well kept. All of the panels appear to be straight with no signs or damage or repair.
At the front of the vehicle, the headlights are completely functional and are free from any cracks on the lenses, and the bonnet and wings are straight and original. Around to the side, the car sits on the standard 19-inch alloys finished in silver, and appear free from any curb marks or damage.

The door panels and rear arches are clean and damage free with just some stone chipping at the front of the rear wheels due to the aggressive standard arch flare found here.

At the rear of the car, the emblem and model designation is still in place, and the rear lights are fully functional with no cracks or damage. It’s such an iconic sight from the rear with those lights - absolutely unmistakable!
The electric soft top is completely functional and appears to be in great condition, aside from a couple of tears in the rubber gasket at the back behind the doors which don't seem to cause any problems.

The Mechanics

  • AM04 6.0L V12
  • 450bhp and 570 Nm
  • Smooth automatic gearbox
  • Rear wheel-drive
Beautifully maintained throughout its previous and current ownerships, with 15 previous service stamps mainly from Aston Martin dealerships, you can be assured that this DB9 has been pampered over the years - no expense has been spared when it has come to keeping on top of maintenance here, and rightly so.

That V12 commands good upkeep to sing the way it does through the rev range, but what a worthwhile investment it is - to hear that glorious V12 symphony whether it be at wide open throttle or even just at a smooth idle. It speaks to you in a way that most cars just can’t.
Powered through an automatic transmission, the gear shifts are smooth and precise with no lack of power wherever you decide to put your foot down - the car reacts swiftly as you would expect it to and is always ready to pounce when you need it to.

Thanks to the lack of a clutch pedal, it’s extremely easy to drive in traffic and cities too.
The owner tells us this car wants for nothing, and it certainly seems so. There is no hesitation from the vehicle, whether that be from starting up to throttle response or anything in between.

Although it may not hold the official title of a supercar, it really isn’t far from it, and it would fool you into believing otherwise. This sporty grand tourer is ready for anything you throw at it.

Summary

There is something to be said about British engineering when it comes to Astons - everything is so wonderfully refined and that is emphasised through the plaque located under the bonnet to indicate the vehicle has been checked and signed off by a certain individual.

This level of excitement and luxury is very hard to come by, especially in the price range that these command today.

Don’t miss out on this!
