The Appeal

The task of designing a new Alfa Romeo Spider is one that likely fills designers with dread. After all, it is a motoring icon.

Thankfully, when it came to producing the third all-new generation, the job fell to Giorgetto Giugiaro, famed designer of, well, almost every beautiful car you can think of from the last 50 years. The resulting Type 939 Brera and Spider deservedly won accolades thanks to their mix of clever detailing and beautiful lines.

The 180bhp 2.2litre JTS engine provided the Alfa-esque performance to match. It is a popular choice as its relative lightness helps maintain the car’s agile balance. This beautiful example combines that powerplant with special Limited Edition trim, in this case Carbonio Black over fetching tan leather.

The condition is a testament to its handful of caring keepers. The current keeper and the previous one always garaged the car, including storage in a dehumidified Carcoon. In recent years it has only been used in summer.

A thick history file is further evidence that we are looking at a lovingly looked after car. The service history is continuous to 2023 and includes a cambelt change with few miles since. The long MOT provides added reassurance to May 2025 - there were no advisories on it or the previous five tests.
