In many ways, the Audi S4 was the German firm’s answer to the BMW M3 – ultra-powerful and sure-footed thanks to its quattro all-wheel-drive system, the compact executive model was a very quick way of getting from point-to-point.

Finished in gleaming red – an exclusive colour to the S models – and with the signature aluminium door mirrors, the S4 looks the part. It’s in great order with no notable damage and straight, even panels gaps – the only minor detractions being a smattering of stone chips on the bonnet and some very slight kerb marks on a couple of the alloys.
Although the service history on this car isn’t comprehensive it has clearly been well-maintained over its 146,717 miles and it starts and runs brilliantly.
We were able to conduct a short test drive during which it drove very well, with no untoward noises or rattles. The gearbox works perfectly and can be operated in auto mode or manually, using steering wheel-mounted paddles. SUMMARY
The S4 is a subtle but wickedly quick performance car with a strong enthusiast following. This one isn’t a mega low-mileage example nor a show pony, but a very good, strong and usable example in very good condition, ready to thoroughly enjoy.
The shriek from the supercharger is addictive, the handling sublime and the performance absolutely incredible. When new, this was a very expensive car. Now you can enjoy it for a fraction of the original price.
