The Appeal
Troy Bayliss is a celebrated Australian motorcycle racer, best known for securing three Superbike World Championship titles with Ducati in addition to competing in MotoGP. His achievements include no fewer than 52 World Superbike victories, placing him among the championship’s most successful riders alongside names such as Jonathan Rea, Álvaro Bautista and Carl Fogarty.
Bayliss lent his name to a special-edition version of the Ducati 1098R, of which just 500 examples were produced as a homologation special for the World Superbike Championship. Distinguished by its white-and-red racing livery featuring his iconic number ‘21’, the model also received red accents, carbon-fibre trim, and stylised Australian flag graphics.
The example offered here was purchased in Dallas, Texas, in 2016 during the current owner’s time in the United States before being imported into the UK in 2019. Still displaying just 1,979 miles from new and occasionally exhibited at motoring shows and events, it would make an exciting addition to any Ducati or superbike collection while remaining every bit as thrilling on the open road thanks to its spine-tingling exhaust note and involving handling.
