One of the most coveted models of eighties Mercedes, the 560SEC is a grand tourer par excellence, an incredibly handsome, elegant machine with towering performance and exceptional build quality. They are true icons of their era.
This 1986 560SEC, build at the start of 560 production, has had just two owners from new and specified in the very attractive combination of Anthracite Grey metallic with cream Alcantara trim.
Supplied new by Majestic Garage of Bournmouth in November ’86 to its first owner who obviously loved the car as he kept it for 30 years. The second owner has lavished tremendous car and attention on the car to ensure it remains in superb order.
In terms of specification, the 560 model of the SEC came with most options as standard. However, this example also has a driver’s airbag and heated front seats. It also has the unusual Alcantara trim option.
This car also has the desirable ‘822’ option code (power output increase), indicating that this 560 has the fully derestricted 300BHP version of the M117 engine.
As the photographs depict, this SEC is in beautiful condition throughout. The body and paintwork is excellent with superb brightwork and recently refurbished wheels. The interior is immaculate with unmarked Alcantara, which is a rare find.
On the road this SEC drives beautifully; smooth, quiet and refined yet tremendously potent when required.
All original books and manuals are present with the car along with a Full Service History. The service book contains 23 stamps, almost all MB main dealer, with further work and services documented in folder of receipts/ paperwork.
The mileage stands today at 120k miles, equating to just 3, 750 miles per year.
The car retains its original dealer rear window decal, dealer plates and tax disc holder. It has spare keys, including the wallet key and a recent alarm immobiliser system. HPI clear with certificate. The car was featured last year in Classic & Sports Car magazine, written by Martin Buckley exploring Mercedes coupes of the past.
In summary, the most desirable iteration of one of Mercedes’ iconic models. Lovely colours, low owners and sensible mileage backed up by a complete history just complete the picture.
