WHAT a 1940s delight we have here. A 1946 Rover P2, but the best of the range being the 16 with straight-6 2147cc engine. This old girl requires one label only, and that has to be originality. Her deep lustre black coachwork may have some chips, blemishes, marks etc but it will out live all of us and will not give you any problems with the likes of rust or rot. In my view, she is superb the way she is and a fresh paint job would not be required. I repeat, that's my opinion.
Certainly her previous owner loved her the way she is. He kept her for the best part of 40 years!
Her originality extends to the interior where the high quality brown leather hits just the right note. It's beautiful, as is the wooden dash and all the clocks houses there within. My word, she is a rock solid old girl and even her engine bay is a delight. Just so clean with the block painted light green and looking stunning.
She drives superbly, as you would imagine with that engine, and the sporty gear change - this was the immediate post-war remember and very rarely seen back then - works fine. The sun roof remains operable and has not been sealed up like so many others.
A real Rover, from back in the day when Rover stood for top of the tree luxury and refinement. A a super chance to break away from BMC models from the same era such as Austin, Morris and Wolseley.
Should you opt to purchase a classic car from me - classic meaning that it will be the equivalent of a motoring antique - then you are accepting that the vehicle will have had faults in the past and that, inevitably, there will be more to deal with in the future. Almost certainly and unless stated otherwise, the vehicle will have undergone some degree of restoration work and, again, it is more than likely it will need more at some stage during its life. I am a one-man enthusiast who enjoys unearthing these old girls and finding new homes for them. Viewing is highly recommended and then you can form your opinion of an aged vehicle just as I will have already formed mine. Modern-day life practically dictates that the majority of classic vehicles - and it is certainly the case with mine - are sold via internet advertising and with the added bonus of digital photographs. Extra and specific photographs will also be available on request. Should you choose to buy without viewing in person then please don't tell me a month later that the horn doesn't work, the full beam is faulty or that you have found some ancient repair of which I knew nothing. My terms therefore are that by buying from me you are accepting that, almost inevitably, classic vehicles will require further remedial work at some stage.
