motodrome offer for sale this 1971/ J Morris Minor 1000 Series V Traveller, finished in the very period Limeflower, with navy interior
This is one of the last Travellers made, as production ceased in April 1971.
In completely standard specification with the exception of an alternator conversion and screw-on oil filter.
V5 only shows 3 owners – the last owner found it looking a bit sorry for itself in a barn in January 2020, and decided to commission a sympathetic restoration retaining as much of the vehicle’s original patina as possible but making it structurally sound and eminently useable, and we think he’s succeeded in this.
Structurally it had, in 2020, offside outer undersill, offside front and rear floor edge panel, offside quarter floor panels front and rear, floor closing panel, front inner wing front and rear sections, hinge pillar cover plate, and boxing panel, B post repair panel, rear spring hanger, and rear inner wing repair panel, plus boot floor repair panel. The previous owner has kindly provided us with some photos of it being restored.
Mechanically the original 1098cc engine has been fully serviced and fitted with a new duplex timing chain, and now runs like a swiss watch. The odometer reading of 89500m may well be genuine.
Interior-wise, it was (and remains) so original it was decided to leave it alone save for new front seat diaphragms. Even the carpets seem to be original, although are a bit worn and tatty in the driver’s footwell.
Also fitted with new tyres on refurbished wheels.
If you’re looking for a Traveller that’s been restored to look like it’s just rolled out of a Morris dealership in 1971, this one probably isn’t for you. However, if you’re looking for one that retains a high level of originality but wears it’s 50+ years of service with pride, then hopefully it will appeal.
