Following America’s fashion for huge (by European standards) saloons in the 60s, the third generation of the Comet grew in size from a small to a “mid-size” car. It offered a comfortable and spacious way to waft along the interstates, with a huge V8 offering an appropriately burbly soundtrack to proceedings.
This example has been recently restored and is presented in fine overall condition, with a factory specification interior and smart period paintwork.IMG_5771.JPG3 MB

Recently restored
Just 52,184 miles indicated (five figure odometer)
Correct ‘Aqua’ paintwork, recently refinished on a rotisserie
Overall the paint and bodywork shows well, with no notable damage, corrosion or marking to be seen
Black stripes run the length of the lower sides
The brightwork and badging shows well, with some light pitting and blemishing commensurate with the car’s age, which nicely adds to the vehicle’s character
The front windscreen features a period upper-tint in complementary green
Correct 14-inch period wheels are fitted, finished in a smart black and polished metal combination and shod with what appear to be new tyres
Underneath the bodywork looks to be in very good order, having been refinished and painted when the car was restored, we could see no damage or corrosion to the sills, floor pans or fuel tank
We never really got these large two-door saloons in Europe, so they remain a very rare sight on our roads, and are therefore perfect for anyone wanting a quirky, comfortable and characterful daily classic.
Finished in a very smart specification and with a recent restoration, a V8-powered Comet Capri is not one to be missed.
