The Continental’s interior really sets it apart from its rivals and you can really feel the care and attention that goes into each stitch, switch and digital interface.
Tan quilted leather is used in abundance, adorning the seats, dashboard, door panels and steering wheel. The quality of the materials is second to none and the level of craftsmanship required to put this interior together is simply awe inspiring. So far as we could discern, there is no wear of any note to any of the upholstery. Having covered less than 39,000 kilometres in its life, this interior still feels really fresh and it has clearly been looked after too.
The same goes for the plush carpeting which displays few signs of foot traffic and the headlining built into the convertible roof looks to be in great condition also.
All of the switchgear presents exceedingly well and we’re informed that all of the electrics work exactly as they should.
The Exterior
- Midnight Emerald Green paintwork
- Really smart bodywork
- The electrically operated soft-top hood functions smoothly and is in very good condition
Since the Continental GT was first unveiled in 2003, the basic silhouette has remained instantly recognisable and has changed little to this day. Those big haunches at the rear convey a real sense of power and the flowing lines give the impression of speed.
The rather subtle hue of Midnight Emerald Green is a great nod to those racing Bentley’s of the ‘20s and ‘30s and the sheer size of the wheels is a further indication that this car is designed to spend much of its life at high speed.
The paint and bodywork appear in really good condition and the vendor doesn’t point out any blemishes. It holds a great shine and we couldn’t see any signs of damage. The soft top roof operates really smoothly and is a far cry from fabric roofs of old. Once raised, the level of refinement means you almost forget you’re in a convertible, no matter how quickly you are travelling.
Those aforementioned alloy wheels look to be in really good shape as do the tyres. There isn’t much in the way of brightwork on this car which adds to the sleekness of its general appearance. The trims are finished in black and present well along with the mirrors. All of the lights work correctly and are in good shape along with the glass.
Overall, this is a really handsome car and you really feel as if you’re in the presence of something truly exquisite.
The Mechanics
- 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12
- Dual clutch eight-speed automatic gearbox
- 626 bhp and 900 Nm of torque
It’s under the bonnet that this car hides its partypiece, a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 that produces 626 horsepower and a colossal 900 Nm of torque via a dual clutch eight-speed automatic gearbox.
We’re informed that this example drives exceptionally well and is equally happy to potter along as it is to storm down the Autobahn.
Summary
If you’re looking for the ultimate grand tourer, this Bentley is without doubt a most worthy candidate. Presented in fantastic overall condition, it would be a great addition to any petrolhead’s driveway.
