The Appeal
First introduced in 1935, the Mercedes-Benz W136 was an essential component of the German automaker's repertoire for an impressive twenty years - and was instrumental in bringing the brand back to health after the War, becoming a businessman's car and a symbol of growth and prosperity for the brave new world.
1950 marked one of the car's most substantial upgrades - giving it a little more grunt under the hood, a wider cabin and telescopic shock absorbers. The result was a far more usable car for the post-war audience.
This example comes to us with the lesser-spotted OM636 I4 diesel engine, and a beguiling burgundy and black colour scheme - which really sets off the car's post-war aesthetic. If you're in the market for a classic diesel, this is a particularly solid example.
