The Appeal
The Cabriolet version of Mercedes’ highly regarded W124 is a spacious, practical four-seat alternative to the firm’s SL models and one that brings all the multifold benefits of one of the greatest saloon cars ever built.
The exquisite engineering and quality are in strong evidence with this highly preserved and well-looked-after 1994 E220. Finished in rare Pearl Blue metallic with darker ‘Sacco Planks,’ bumpers and roof and a beige leather cabin, it looks resplendent in the sun. There are more powerful A124 models, but these cars were never about buzzy, high speed progress, and the E220 is a good choice if you want fair performance and decent economy.
The vendor acquired the car in 2019 and has looked after it well. There is a lengthy list of maintenance below, over and above continuing the regular servicing that the history file shows it has enjoyed throughout its life. Recent work has included new wheels and tyres, replacement ABS ECU, suspension repairs and welding.
The car comes to market in great working order with a lengthy MOT to January 2026 containing no advisories. This car looks perfect for a summer continental touring holiday.
The vendor says:
“While the 220 engine isn't built for speed, this car isn’t about racing—it’s a stylish cruiser for sunny days. As the 1990s fade into history, this car is gaining more attention for its looks and rarity. At 31 years old, it’s a genuine conversation starter and a car you can enjoy while knowing it won’t lose value.
“This is the perfect vehicle for summer cruising to the beach, heading out to dinner, or attending local car meets with family and friends—all in style and comfort.”
