The Appeal

With a range as wide and varied as that of the modern 911 – which contains everything from comfortable GT models to out-and-out track specials, it can be tricky to find a perfectly balanced model. But that’s where the GTS comes in, it’s the ‘Goldilocks’ of the range. Not too hot, not too cold, just … right.

Offering unique styling features, the more powerful ‘Porsche Powerkit’ drivetrain and a range of extras, the GTS is the ideal 911 for anyone that enjoys a precise equilibrium between agility and comfort.

This example is neatly specified with an attractive colour scheme inside and out, offering an eye-catching and handsome way to enjoy modern Porsche ownership. Presented in good condition, this is one 911 that’s truly raring to go.

The Interior

With red leather swathing the seats, door cards and lower dashboard, the interior of this 911 is as individual as it is beautifully finished. There is a little light wear and creasing to some of the leather, but generally all of the upholstery is in very good condition.

Matched nicely with the leather, red carpets run through the cabin and look to be in fine fettle. They’re contrasted with official black Porsche floor mats, which don’t show any significant damage or notable wear as far as we can see.

Carbon fibre trim adorns the doors, steering wheel and dashboard fascia and looks well, with no signs of delamination or cracking that we could see.

The Exterior

One of the reasons we love the GTS is that it maintains the classic, smooth styling of the 911 (there are no exuberant wings or aero affectations), while adding the wider rear track and bodywork of the Carrera 4S model. It lends it a set of distinctly sporting proportions and, in combination with this model’s smart green paint and black wheels, has a real ‘road racer’ aesthetic.

The paint itself is mostly in good order, with just a few minor blemishes as you’d expect. There’s a little hairline cracking or spidering to the paint on the right side of the rear bumper, but nothing too severe.

All of the body panels look to be in fine condition too, with no notable damage or corrosion that we could see. Panel gaps look to be neat and even, while all of the trim and badging appears to be neat, tidy and undamaged. The only issue we could discern was that one of the passenger side front parking sensors appears to be missing.

Perfectly accompanying the paint and styling are the gloss black, 10-spoke centre-lock wheels. They look in fine condition and we couldn’t identify any kerbing or paint damage. They’re shod in a matched set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

The Mechanics

The GTS is fitted as standard with the Porsche Powerkit, so it develops 30hp more than a standard Carrera 2S. As such, it offers the driver 424hp and 325lb-ft – very healthy figures indeed for a car that weighs in the region of 1.5 tonnes. The result is a 0-100km/h time of 4.4 seconds and a 306km/h top speed.

With a focus on balanced performance, the suspension is 10mm lower than that of a C2S. Added to that are the wealth of extras that are included as standard: sports exhaust, dynamic engine mounts, torque vectoring, active suspension management and a limited slip differential.

Summary

One of the last naturally aspirated 911s, we think the GTS is sure to become something of a collector’s item in the future. In the meantime, it’s probably the sweet spot of modern 911 ownership.

This particular example is finished in a lovely shade of green, with a contrasting red leather interior that makes for a truly individual machine. When you consider the extra power and dynamic ability of the GTS over the standard Carrera 2S, there’s really no reason not to love this car.
