The Appeal
When it comes to pre-war motoring, the Austin Seven was very much the final word for many British motorists. It was a compact, affordable and easy-to-keep machine, better-specified than its American counterparts and generally much more refined. A much more agreeable character overall, which is perhaps why the car became such an international hit.
By 1934, the Austin 7 Ruby had arrived, which greatly improved on the Seven's extent personality. This is the most straightforward, surprisingly eager of the Baby Austins, with a plush cabin and a more recognisable shift layout making for an altogether more comfortable place for driver and passenger alike.
Now approximately 90 years old, this 1935 example has been in the present owner's care since 2012, during which time a restoration begun by two previous owners was brought to completion. Repainted in a shade close to the correct Royal Blue, the bodywork presents well and the mechanicals are reported to perform as they should.image.png1.57 MB
