The Appeal

The XK150 DHC dialled up the comfort and visual drama with a luxury cabin and extra chromework. Good examples are popular classic touring cars for exactly those reasons.

This car is appropriately finished in British Racing Green, which was applied as part of a comprehensive two-year restoration when the car returned to the UK in 1999. A more recent addition is a complementary Suede Green leather interior retrim with walnut veneers and four-spoke wood-rimmed wheel.

The car has had just two keepers since the restoration and it has covered few miles. That has kept the condition impressive, the paintwork remaining bright and the panels flush and well presented. The car is largely standard except for the useful addition of switchable electric power steering.

In recent years, maintenance has been entrusted to specialist Twyford Motors. There is a run of extensive invoices for servicing and other work that indicate a ‘no expense spared’ approach.’ Highlights include a new clutch and flywheel. The car was checked over and serviced by Twyford in November 2024. There is a useful voluntary MOT valid to November 2025 with no advisories.

“This Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé was originally exported to New York in September 1959. It returned to the UK in 1999, at which point it underwent an extensive restoration and was converted to right-hand drive. Since then, the car has had only two UK owners. The previous keeper owned the vehicle for ten years and had it regularly maintained by Twyford Motors, a respected Jaguar specialist based near Portsmouth.”
