The Appeal
It’s always a delight to find a really early Mini. These first ‘Austin Seven’ Minis are the closest to Alec Issigonis’ original concept for a diminutive people’s car. His ingenious design has become a global icon, a totemic symbol of Britain, immortalised in pop culture like the famous ‘Italian Job’ chase scene in 1969.
Here we have a Tartan Red Austin Seven Mini from 1961. As keen Mini enthusiasts will have noted from the photographs, this car is remarkably original and has been restored to a very good standard. The work was done between 2006 and 2008, and the car remains in smart condition, having been off the road in dry storage for the past five years. While now due a service, the Mini is reportedly in running order, with a new fuel filter fitted recently.
