Simply put the Vespa is a global icon, recognisable as Romes’ colosseum and Pisa’s leaning tower, the Italian scooter started out as a post-war means of transport for the Italian population and thanks to its reliability and affordability it soon became the number one means of getting around. Popularity grew further after it frequented the big screen, featuring in several Hollywood films and now 76 years later over 16 million of these bikes have been sold in thirteen countries.
These stylish and economical scooters became a part of a British Mod subculture in the 1960s, who modified their bikes with their own personal touches, such as large mirrors, chrome racks and additional lights. Their bikes were an extension of themselves, a reflection of their unique fashion and taste in music and many Vespas still proudly showcase the historical era.
This 1966 Supersport (SS) is one of the most sought-after models thanks to its larger 180cc engine. It's in great condition with only a few minor signs of storage present. It starts for the first time and rides beautifully, filling the air with the recognisable ‘wasp’ noise.
