The Appeal

The Bonneville is nothing short of a British motorcycling institution. Sixty-four years since the first ‘Bonnie’ rolled off the production line, you can still ride away on a brand new one from your local Triumph agent.
Here we have a brilliant restored T140 dating from 1975. By this time, Triumph had refined the Boneville, enlarging its parallel twin by one hundred cc and equipping it with a five-speed gearbox. Revered for their cruising ability and a ready turn of speed, Bonnevilles of this era remain popular classics and this one has been subject to a great deal of attention over the years.
Imported from Denmark and first UK registered in 2016, this bike has been comprehensively restored and therefore is presented in fantastic condition. Exempt from MOT testing and road tax, this usable classic is ready to be enjoyed.

The History and Paperwork

  • 1976 MY specification
  • The 13,700 miles indicated is believed to be correct
  • MOT valid until July 2024, although exempt
  • Imported from Denmark in 2016
  • Previously restored
  • One former UK keeper

The Condition

  • Well restored to original specifications
  • Excellent refinished paintwork in black and red
  • Barely any blemishes to the paint
  • The chrome all presents immensely well
  • Straight frame and seemingly dent-free fuel tank
  • All badging in good order
  • Complete with mirrors, lamps and indicators
  • The seat upholstery looks to be in great condition with some light patina
  • Barely any wear to the rubber components
  • The clocks appear in lovely order and read clearly
  • Both wheels and tyres present beautifully

The Mechanics

  • 750 cc parallel twin
  • The vendor believes that the engine was rebuilt during the restoration
  • All engine and gearbox casings impeccably presented, undamaged and free from corrosion
  • Five-speed gearbox
  • Fitted with electronic ignition
  • Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear (1976 MY specification)
  • We’re informed that it runs and rides very well indeed

Summary

We really like these ‘70s Bonevilles. The T140 is amongst the most rounded classic British bikes, perfectly suiting it to regular year-round riding. This restored example looks fantastic and is said to run very well indeed.
