The Appeal
Introduced in 1975 as the final chapter of BMW’s acclaimed 02 Series, the 1502 offered the same rear-wheel-drive balance and engaging character as its larger counterparts, paired with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and four-speed manual gearbox. Affordable yet rewarding, it marked the end of the much-loved 02s before BMW turned to the first 3 Series, making it an important milestone for the marque.
This particular 1976 example is especially appealing thanks to its originality and specification. First registered in Jersey in March 1976, it was delivered with high specification, complete with factory-fitted steel sunroof, 13-inch genuine Alpina alloys, opening quarter lights, rear opening windows, stainless steel exhaust, and rare BMW Bavaria radio, which is still in situ and said to be working perfectly.
Finished in Pastel Blue with a Navy Blue interior, it retains period charm with its OEM wooden steering wheel, original overmats, and a smart, highly original interior. Said to have been repainted around 20 years ago, the car still presents well and has clearly been cherished and carefully maintained.
Mechanically, it inspires confidence: in 2025 the braking system was fully overhauled and a major service was carried out by respected BMW specialist Lee Shannon in Hampshire. The underside of the vehicle shows signs of having been waxoiled, and the car is supported by service invoices dating back to 1977, along with a large box of original parts. Altogether, this well-kept BMW 1502 is a rare, high-specification example of the last of the 02 Series

The Condition
- The car is said to have been repainted some 20 years ago.
- The pastel blue paintwork remains smart with some signs of age and usage, including a scratch on the bonnet, slight paint peel on the boot lid, lacquer lift on the roof, and some rear corner damage.
- Functioning sunroof in good condition.
- The engine bay is clean and well presented.
- The underside of the vehicle shows signs of having been waxoiled.
- Brake system, boot lock and dash light restoration in 2025.

- Vinyl front seats, back seats and door cards show very little signs of wear.
- Dashboard displays a small rip in the vinyl and a dent above the passenger footwell
- The rip in the dash is more of a small crack in the usual place where the binnacle joins the main dashboard
