The Appeal

Out on the road, this Silver Shadow still drives how you’d expect a Rolls Royce to drive, it is soft and supple over any bumps and the 6.75l V8 under the bonnet provides ample power.

The History and Paperwork

• First registered on the 24th of December 1976
• From its original service book, we can see that it was delivered to the Leeds area
• These service stamps go until 1987 and 58,290 miles 
• It’s managed to keep its original warranty card from 1976
• Other original manuals include the handbook, information on radial-ply tyres, and a sales and service handbook from 1976 
• You’ll find a large wad of MOT certificates from the years 
• There are also a couple of old V5s
• Its current MOT runs out on 16/07/2023
• The current owner has recently had an issue with the power steering fixed
• Its central locking has recently been fixed
• Now it’s your chance to add to its history 

The Interior

• Getting inside this Rolls Royce is like getting into a stately home on wheels 
• With a ton of leather and a forest worth of veneer, it is a special place to be 
• The cream leather compliments the exterior colour well
• Up front, the two large leather seats are in lovely condition 
• Neither have any rips or tears to the material and are very comfortable 
• The rear bench seat also follows this trend and looks lovely
• At the base of every seat is a thick wool over mats
• In the rear, there are also some footrests at the base of the front seats
• Spanning the width of the cabin is an impressive wood veneer dashboard
• There are a few spots where it has aged 
• This has also happened to some of the door capping’s as well 
• Other than areas of veneer wear the door cards are in good condition 
• All of the windows are electrically operated and all working
• Although, the nearside rear passenger window is a little slow to return 
• Its Blaupunkt radio still works
• The headliner is in very good condition with no large marks or signs of sagging
• Lots of the smaller elements, such as the metal finishes around the door pulls/switchgear are all in lovely condition 
• Walking to the rear of the car you get to the cavernous boot space
• With a lot of space to play with you can easily go away for a trip in the car
• There is also a toolkit and spare wheel to be found back there
• Overall, the interior is in very nice condition and just waiting for you to hop in

The Exterior 

• Externally the Silver Shadow is a stunning classic
• With simple lines and chrome accents, you can’t help but fall in love 
• Finished in Larch Green this example is in good exterior condition 
• The body panels appear to be solid and straight with only a few marks present
• There are a couple of areas where previous paint work repairs haven’t aged so well
• They are flat to the eye, almost as if they forgot to apply lacquer
• At the front of the car, its chrome grille, bumper, and headlight surrounds are in good condition 
• There is some slight pitting to the bottom of the bumper
• Its rear chrome bumper is in similar condition with only a couple of small, isolated areas of light corrosion
• From a quick visual underside look it appeared to look good
• The four wheels are all in great condition 
• Overall, the exterior of this Silver Shadow is good
• There are a few areas that you may wish to get re-finished, after these are complete you’ll have a lovely classic

The Mechanics 

• Turning the key to this Rolls Royce will wake the almost silent 6.75l V8
• Slipping it into drive you are on your way in great comfort
• This car wafts along the road with ease 
• During its nearly 50 years it has been looked after
• It's currently riding on a set of matching set Avon Turbosteel 70 
• The current owner has recently had an issue with the power steering resolved 
• On the day of the photos, the car was taken on a 20 minute drive out and back 
• Taken up to the national speed limit it performed this task with ease 
• The gear shifts were nice and smooth 
• This can also be said for the ride quality, it is amazing for a nearly 50-year-old car
• Overall, this Silver Shadow appears to be in good mechanical condition 
• It is just waiting for you to get in and take it on the next big adventure
