The Appeal

The Mini was a motoring revolution, the city car that found its natural home on suburban driveways across Europe. In the 80s British Leyland injected some new verve into the range with new trim models designed to position it as a budget alternative to the new Metro.

For buyers seeking luxury and economy there was the HLE, which offered a high trim level with the high compression ‘economy’ 998cc engine. It was available for one year in 1982.

This well kept HLE is a pleasing mix of originality and some classic Mini enhancements like the white roof, lowered suspension and attractive alloys. A run of APK certificates including 31st October 2022 attest to its ongoing use and maintenance during its 41 years. It appears solid and very usable and a great way to discover these hugely entertaining cars.
