The Appeal
At a time when the coupe market seemed fiercely neglected, the Scirocco felt like a tonic. Practical and stylish, the real secret of the Scirocco was that under its timeless shell, it shared much in common with the Golf GTI. It was a real driver's car. Giugiaro had penned the original design of the car, and it was no slouch in the looks department - but by the time the 80s came around, Herbert Schäfer had taken hold of Volkswagen's new design Studio, and opted to bring a real retro-futurist side to the car's 2nd generation.
Nowadays, a good Scirocco is a rare sight - despite the car's impressive success - and continues to attract plenty of admiring glances. They were offered in all manner of two-letter Trim codes, and only 8 of the 'GL' are known to still exist on the British network - quite the prospect for the rarity-loving enthusiast.
This Scirocco is finished in Diamond Silver Metallic, while the cabin is decked out in Grey & Black Pinstripe velour, positively packing it with a distinctive 80s executive aesthetic.
