The Appeal 

The Silver Spirit delivers a driving and passenger experience quite unlike any other saloon. It evokes the words ‘waft,’ ‘effortless,’ ‘relaxing’ and ‘stately.’ Given those alluring qualities you might imagine this beautiful Mk1 would have amassed many more than the mere 16,679 miles it has covered in its 40 years.
We can be thankful its duo of keepers have used it so sparingly because it delivers to the buyer a Silver Spirit not far removed from its condition on the day it was delivered in September 1984. This one was bought new by boxing promoter Barney Eastwood, who made his name managing ‘Clones Cyclone’ Barry McGuigan. He owned the car until he died in 2020, naturally ensuring it was maintained in the manner you’d expect of a multi-millionaire. 

Finished in the popular combination of dark blue over cream, this is surely a ‘one of a kind’ opportunity for the collector. 
A long, advisory-free MOT to January 2025 underlines the impression of a very well-sorted Mk1 Silver Spirit. That could be the car’s last test because from 1st April 2025 it will be eligible for Historic Vehicle status, also saving the new keeper the cost of car tax. Good Silver Spirits are the pinnacle of 80s saloon car motoring and this example is certainly a good one.

  • Smart dark blue paintwork in very good order and appears to be largely or fully original 
  • Paintwork in good order with some minor marks to be expected due to originality 
  • Bodywork is straight and well kept particularly to arches and sills 
  • Sits on correct Avon Turbosteels with chrome hub caps and body colour fillets
  • Debadged car but otherwise appears to be factory standard
  • No structural advisories on current MOT 
  • Cream leather interior with contrast dark blue piping and reverse scheme for carpets
  • Leather is in very good order across seats, door cards and headlining 
  • Very light creasing to driver’s seat one of very few indications of car’s age and usage
  • Blue carpets with contrast cream piping in good order through cabin and boot 
  • Black leather dashboard in good condition
  • Walnut wood veneers to dashboard appear original and generally presentable 
  • Some areas of light delamination to note to dashboard veneers in photographs 
  • Fitted with cruise control and period-correct Blaupunkt Toronto radio cassette
