The Appeal
The J40 Series Toyota Land Cruiser is renowned for being amongst the most capable and long-lasting off-roaders of all time. Even today, these old Land Cruisers are still working hard all over the world - a testament to how useful these vehicles are and the incredible engineering behind them.
If they have an Achilles’ heel, it’s rust, but this 1987 example has avoided such problems having spent its entire life in South Africa. Recently imported to the UK and awaiting road registration, this corrosion-free HJ47 is brimming with potential and would be a fantastic basis for a restomod or simply to use as-is.
It’s undergone a recent mechanical service to ensure it’s in good running order ready for its next custodian which also included an overhaul of the power steering and the fuel system which feeds that big, strong 4.0-litre straight-six. The car is complete with its South African logbook to aid the new owner with its registration in the UK and so is nearly ready to go!
