The Background
Produced between 1982 and 1994 the BMW E30 3 Series range included a 2 door coupe and convertible, and a 4 door saloon and estate. Available with various engines they were a massive sales success and helped to cement BMW as a market force to be reckoned with.
Rear wheel drive and a beautifully balanced chassis made these cars an absolute delight to drive and live with and they fully merited their reputation for being reliable and being built to a high German Engineering standard.
The History
The car had a few owners before being bought by the previous owner in 2000 and it has only recently been bought by the current owner who, due to a change in circumstance, is now reluctantly putting the car up for auction.
The Paperwork
The car comes with various service history receipts and MOTs and 2 keys.
The V5c is currently at Swansea DVLA and expected shortly, and the current MOT is valid until August of this year.
The Interior
The interior is in very good condition throughout, showing very little sign of age or wear, and It has tailored floor mats fitted and the dashboard is in excellent condition with no cracks or imperfections anywhere.
There are a couple of scuffs on the door card and the odd small mark but overall everything looks and works as it should and is in really nice original condition.
The boot is clean and dry and has the complete tool kit, the original spare wheel and the jack.
The Exterior
The bright red paintwork has a few small bodywork blemishes and some small stone chips, but there is no bubbling paint anywhere and the overall impression is of a very nice and well cared for car.
There’s a very small scrape on the front spoiler but that’s the only minor point to mention with no dents or other damage to report or advise.
All the chrome and black external fixtures are in particularly good condition, the wheels are all good and all 4 tyres have many miles of tread left.
The Mechanics
In 2020 the car went through a good and thorough check by BMW and any issues dealt with. It was fully serviced, with new plugs, brake pads, discs and brake shoes. It had a new water pump, fan belt and had considerable work done on the suspension with many new parts and bushes.
The owner reports that the car starts and drives very well and has performed faultlessly during his ownership with no known issues to report.
The car is reported to drive very nicely and everything is reported to be working as it should.
The Appeal
A BMW E30 3 Series is a sure-fire future classic car and is a car that will be a pleasure to own and are great to drive, being solid and nimble with plenty of power on tap.
Their clean and classic lines still look great today and will continue to do so for many years to come. This is a great chance to own a highly usable original car that has been well cared for and looks great.
