Throughout its seven-decade existence, Mercedes-Benz's SL model has consistently proved to be the best convertible money can buy. Beautifully made, expertly engineered, tastefully styled and brimming with cutting-edge tech, they were all amazing cars for their time and the R129 is no exception. On the contrary, it was arguably the most groundbreaking SL to date.
Styled by the late Bruno Sacco, it looked markedly different to its R107 and W113 predecessors and the all-new 'electro-hydraulic' roof was the first power roof of its kind to be offered on an SL. Production ran from 1988 until 2001 and some 213,089 were built.
This 1992 example is a 300 SL - a choice specification that strikes a good balance between performance and usability. It looks to be in lovely condition, with just 66,011 miles covered from new.,
