The SL series has consistently been peak Mercedes for many, and there's good reason for that. In fact, there are many good reasons for that. There's the car's timeless style for one, regardless of the generation. There's also the technological enhancements commensurate with the SL and it's consistently been a car that has been unafraid to push boundaries.
Let's not forget also that they're simply brilliant cars to drive, and the R129 is no exception. Replacing the previous R107 SL was no easy task but the R129 pulled it off. Retaining the sleek aesthetics of its predecessor the R129 was a much more advanced roadster that still exuded charm and sophistication in spades.
Further expanding upon the range of engines offered, there was an SL for most tastes, from the 2.8-litre six-cylinder to the raucous AMG V12 and seemingly everything in between, but it's the SL600 that we have available here.
Still possessing that M120 V12 engine found in the AMG, the 600 features a 6.0-litre version, rather than the fire breathing 7.3, but that's not to say it wasn't potent. Far from it. With 394bhp on tap it was more than fast enough and the R129 SL600 still presents as an incredibly capable convertible two-seater GT.
Well-maintained and well-preserved this stunning low-owner early 1994 example remains in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Inspections and maintenance have been kept up to date and the car has been fully re-wired as a precautionary measure.
This Mercedes-Benz 600SL then would make an ideal choice for collectors or enthusiasts looking for a luxurious and iconic model from the golden era of Mercedes engineering.image.png2.02 MB
