The Appeal
You cannot talk about 4x4s without mentioning the Toyota Land Cruiser, since its introduction in 1951 it has built a formidable reputation thanks to its unrivalled reliability and off-road capabilities. When the J80 was released in 1990 you could get a couple of specifications, this version is the fully loaded VX model so it's full of ‘90s toys.
Over the past 28 years, this car has only had two owners, and both owners have devoted a lot of time and money to the maintenance of this car. It is now your turn to enjoy the joys of a modern classic off-roader.
The History and Paperwork
- First registered for the road in September of 1994 this Land Cruiser went was destined to spend the first part of its life in the Cotswolds
- During this first ownership, the first owner got the car regularly serviced at the Toyota main dealer in Cheltenham.
- Unfortunately, an independent garage would lose this service history later down the line, however, the current owners stated that the previous owner could vouch for its service history
- After 15 years with this car, the previous owner put it up for sale where it would end up with the current owner in 2009
- They have since kept up to date with all of the normal servicing work
- Within the paperwork bundle, there is a printout from Aadrenalin Vehicle Services which documents every annual service that has been carried out since 2014.
- The service has been carried out every year regardless of the mileage completed
- It also has a few MOT test printouts in the file, with the current MOT expiring in January of 2023. So, you should have a lot of time to enjoy this car
- There are also a lot of original Toyota literature in the owner’s handbook.
- Amazingly the car also comes with 4 keys, two normal, one spare, and one emergency/valet key which is still in its little plastic wallet
- Taking a look at some of the invoices we can see that in 2019 the radiator was replaced
- In 2018 there is a small service carried out, but more importantly, the timing belt and bearings were also replaced. Another job that you don’t have to worry about doing any time soon
- In 2016 it has a full service, a rear shock absorber, and some work to the handbrake
- Most recently the car has benefitted from some new gas struts on the boot

The Interior

The interior of this Land Cruiser is definitely built for a purpose, with big chunky buttons and hard wearing materials it is a lovely place to sit and float down the road, and being a Land Cruiser, you could probably hose it out without many issues.
Looking at the condition of the 7-seats fitted to the interior of this 4x4 we can see that they are presented in good condition overall, with a few of the seats looking better than others. Starting with the seat that sees the most wear, the driver’s seat, we can see that there is some marking to the leather but importantly it doesn’t look like the leather has split. The front passenger seat has some bolster wear but apart from that it is well presented. It should be mentioned that these front seats are not only electrically operated but also heated too. As you’d expect the rear five seats are presented very well with the middle bench looking like it hasn’t been used too often and the rear two seats looking like new.
To match the condition of the seats, even the carpets are presented extremely well. Along with the carpets, even the door cards look amazingly clean. With some nice wooden accents around the electric window buttons.
The only part of the interior to draw your attention to is the fact that the factory original air-con does not work at the moment, but all the parts are there for you to work with.
Presented in wonderful condition this will be a great place to sit back, relax, and watch the miles pass by. With space for all your family and friends, the interior of this wonderful Land Cruiser will hold so many happy memories for you in the future.
The Exterior

Built for a purpose the exterior of this Land Cruiser is presented extremely well, from the two-tone paint to the shiny nudge bar at the front. This is one of those cars that you can help but look back at when you park it up.
Starting with the paintwork we can see that it is presented very well, with the two-tone grey/silver colour looking resplendent in the sunlight. This is then further complimented by the amazing alloy wheels. These 18” alloys appear to be void of any nasty curb marks. They are also shod in 4 matching Dunlop AT23’s which should provide you with lots of grip both on and off-road.
If there is one word that will excite a car enthusiast, ‘turbo’ has to sit at the top of the life, luckily this car has a couple of turbo stickers on the rear haunches. Along with these stickers, there are also two stickers on either side that reference the 4wd system. It is great to see that these original stickers have stood the test of time.
Looking at the rest of the exterior we can see that key items like the headlights, rear lights, and big nudge bar at the front are all presented very well for sale too.

The Mechanics

You are probably looking at the most reliable 4x4 platform ever produced, sure Land Rovers are good, but if you want to cross the Sahara or the Antarctic everyone knows that you’d do it in a Land Cruiser. With supreme reliability and built-in redundancy, the Land Cruiser will always get you wherever you need to be.
Importantly, this truck has been extremely well maintained since the day it left the dealership. The first owner got the car regularly serviced at the Toyota main dealer in Cheltenham throughout their ownership, and the current owner has stuck to the same mentality, getting it serviced annually regardless of the mileage.
With its automatic gearbox, hi-low ranges, and even diff-lock this truck will literally go anywhere you point it. Whether that be the M25 or a 1:4 slope it will conquer almost anything without even breaking a sweat.
Currently, there is a very minor issue with the fuel system, but this will be solved by the time you come to pick it up. On the day of the photos, it performed handsomely, after quick priming of the fuel pump, manoeuvring into position effectively without any issues.
