The 993 was the last air-cooled Porsche 911, and as such holds a special place in the hearts and minds of Porsche fans and aficionados of the marque the world over, and considered by many to be the ultimate, iconic 911.

Prices continue to rise for this highly sought-after model and its reputation for performance and durability is second to none, making this a car that will never fail to excite and engage its driver every time they turn the ignition key.

The extra grip provided by the permanent four-wheel drive system in the Carrera 4 is a welcome aid to spirited driving, especially in the wet.

Originally supplied in UK spec in 1995 to its first owner in Jersey, it was re-imported to the UK in 1997 when it was first registered with DVLA. Since 2008 the car has done only around 9,000 miles as the previous owner kept it stored in his garage using it very occasionally but making sure it had its MOT every year and regular oil changes.

The car comes with an excellent service history with receipts and a stamped-up service book by Porsche main dealers and Porsche specialists. Upon purchasing the car a year ago the current owner sent it to Porsche for a full service and health check and, in addition, had the following work done following its extended period in storage. 

The front fog-lamps were replaced and the headlight glasses and seals renewed, a new fuel filter was fitted and the brakes were fully renovated with new rear discs and pads.

All the drive belts were replaced along with new engine mounts and a set of Fuchs alloys and brand new Pirelli P zeros fitted. The car has featured in a celebration of the Carrera 4 in the GT Purely Porsche magazine and is now offered for auction in all round excellent and original condition.

There’s plenty of paperwork and history for this nice Carrera 4. The V5c shows 6 owners, and there are a whole stack of invoices from Porsche centres and specialists for services and maintenance carried out over the years.

There are plenty of MOTs, a nicely stamped up service book and a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche. The car comes with a full year’s MOT and the space saver wheel, tools, air compressor and gauge are all present along with the original owner’s manuals and 2 full sets of keys.

The marble grey and black leather interior is in great condition with only the driver’s seat bolster showing any real sign of use. The whole interior is in very fine shape and features an electric sunroof, electrically adjustable sports seats with carbon-fibre backs, a full computer information system, climate control and cruise control.

There is a later Porsche Radio/Navigation system fitted and it also has the optional rear wiper fitted and a top-tinted windscreen. The door cards, headlining and carpets are all very good and other than a few light scratches and scuffs on the odd bit of black trim the car interior presents very well indeed.

The Slate Grey special order paintwork still has a deep and luxurious shine to it, and it really shows off the car’s curvaceous design and unmistakable 911 lines.

There are a few stone chips on the front and bonnet and the sunroof seal is beginning to fade a bit, but other than that it presents itself really well from every angle looking very purposeful on its new Porsche Fuchs Alloys, and every inch a 911 to be proud of.

Fully serviced only 600 odd miles ago with many items renewed at the same time the car is reported to be running faultlessly with everything working exactly as it should.

The engine bay is a lovely example of what a well maintained and cared for car should look like.

The 993 is a great classic car and, being the last of the air-cooled 911s, is in ever increasing demand with Porsche and motoring enthusiasts.  The 3.6 boxer flat 6 engine has 272 BHP on tap and an unmistakable and very addictive engine sound. 

The six-speed gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive system makes the 993 Carrera 4 an absolute delight to drive whatever the weather conditions. 

This lovely Carrera 4 is in generally excellent all-round original condition and comes with a full service history from Porsche and Porsche specialists making this a very nice example of one of the greatest sports cars of our time.
