The Appeal

Every generation of the Corvette has its admirers, but the C5 is something special, mainly because it is the car that finally took the fight to the established European sports car makers. It was designed as a convertible from the outset using a clever and very stiff hydroformed steel frame featuring a transaxle layout that enables 50/50 weight distribution. The result is handling to match those pesky Italian and German rivals, but with the charisma and straight line charge of Chevy’s brilliant LS1 V8.

The C5 is practical and comfortable too, all of which makes this very smart 2003 car a perfect alternative to more common rivals for a 2026 trans-continental road trip. Or perhaps for popping down to the pub and wowing the regulars. With its vibrant red paintwork, it certainly stands out, just as any Corvette should. The exterior and the black leather interior are iin great condition, the whole set off by some neat aftermarket alloys.

The vendor acquired the car to tick off his bucket list, something he has now done. He tells us that the car has been great fun. It comes with a large history file and, adding to its appeal for enthusiasts, was built in the 50th year of Corvette production.
