The Appeal
For its first all-new XJ since the early 80s, Jaguar pulled out all the stops. Don’t let the heritage styling mislead you - the lightweight aluminium bodywork concealed a technologically advanced XJ that went a considerable way towards reinventing the line.
The result is a car styled to appeal to traditional Jaguar buyers that delivered market-leading levels of luxury and comfort. To tempt buyers out of their BMW M5s there was the supercharged XJR.
Faced with stiff competition from the resurgent Maserati Quattroporte, Jaguar sought to bring all those qualities together into one car - the Super V8. Blending the XJR powerplant with the sort of luxury specification more familiar to Bentley and Rolls-Royce buyers, the Super V8 really was the ultimate X350.
Very expensive and aimed at a particularly select audience, just 1,272 SWB Super V8s were built. This is one of them, a Brooklands Green example that appears to have spent much of its life in Japan before arriving on our shores in early 2021. With full service history and showing barely any signs of use, this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire the sort of saloon car Jaguar truly excels at.
