The Appeal

It's the age-old tale that gives TVR such a devout following. Supercar performance on saloon car money. There's nothing quite like them on the road and the T350 model of the early 2000s is perhaps the most raw and enticing TVRs of the modern era, boasting that quintessential TVR driving experience but backed by slightly more modern engineering than some of its more rudimentary forebears. Considered by many to be one of the best driving TVRs ever made, its reputation is rather formidable, but for entirely good reason.
This striking green and blue T350C is perhaps one of the most interesting examples of the very limited number available on the market today. An ex demonstrator for The TVR Centre in Barnet this 2003 model stands today in good overall condition but wants for a light recommissioning to bring it up to the standard it deserves. For the committed TVR enthusiast the bold slice of modern TVR goodness isn’t one to miss.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered 03/07/2003
  • Originally a demonstrator for The TVR Centre of Barnet

The Interior

Almost to be expected from a TVR, opening the doors reveals what can only be described as a bold, space age cabin. With dramatic curves, bright colourings and quality leather, the TVR rewrites the rulebook on what a stand out automotive interior space should be.
As an ex demonstrator, this particular T350 came onto the forecourt in a bright, lavish interior specification so as to compliment the striking exterior colour scheme. In here we find supple green and cream leather draped across nearly every surface. Still rich in colour it stands today in a similarly good fashion to which it rolled out of the factory. The body hugging, sculpted sports seats are of a great quality and highlight very minimal in the way of wear or blemishing.
The multi layered, split level dash panel exhibits in much the same way, boasting yet more quality green and cream leather, however we do find some more prominent ribs and blemishing atop the curved gauge cluster ahead of the driver's view. Continuing the green motif across to the sides of the cabin we find two neat and simple door panels, presenting well with just a light, general patina to the leather in places.
A wonderful compliment to the bold leather appointments are the contrasting metal finish trim pieces and embellishments. Although striking in their appearance they are present with a general flowing to the finish, perhaps most notable on the door cappings, handbrake and indicator stalk.
A three spoke TVR steering wheel takes pride of place at the front of the cabin with an Alpine radio head unit situated in the centre alongside the electronic window controls and door poppers, all of which are working well.
Plush beige brown carpeting with green piping drapes its way throughout the cabin floor and into the well sized rear boot area with a contrasting green headliner sitting proudly above. Both look to be clean and well fitting. There is slight pitting to the chrome work on the inside.

The Exterior

Subtlety is perhaps not the key here, but has it ever been with TVR? 
Exotic in its design, striking in its colour, this T350 is an absolute marvel from an aesthetic perspective and a real head turner. Finished an iconic TVR Chameleon paint scheme, Chameleon Green to be specific it's a wonderfully styled and specced sports car that still looks fresh and modern today.
Whilst the car is wholly presentable from an aesthetic perspective, there are areas of blemishing to be seen that would ideally benefit from attention and improvement. Most notably we find the paint finish to have detached in small specs around the front area of the car possibly from motorway use or higher speeds. There are also some small areas of speckling around the wheel arches but in the grand scheme of things these are relatively minor issues which could be rectified by the right devoted owner and a good quality paint shop.
At ground level sit four stylish, contrasting grey seven spoke 18” TVR alloy wheels, in good presentable form although there are some areas of kerb rash to be seen on the front nearside wheel. Exterior trim and badging, while rather limited to play into the car’s smooth exterior finish appears to be of a great standard throughout, the same can be said of the car’s glass work although there is a minor area of delamination of the nearside rear window and some flawing to the finish of the drivers side mirror.

The Mechanics

With aerodynamic styling and wind tunnel development, the T350 was always going to be a great, dynamic performer. Based on the brilliant Tamora platform, the T350 boasts a thunderous 3.6 litre six cylinder engine, aptly named the “speed six”. Good for a reported 360bhp, it's certainly no slouch and will propel the car with impressive haste.
Whilst the bonnet was unable to be opened during the photoshoot process, due to a since rectified flaw with the latch mechanism, the vendor has provided a series of photos of the powerplant in this particular example, which show it to be in good presentable form throughout. Although it should be noted that at the time of the photoshoot, a “warning code 21” message was intermittently showing on the gauge cluster.
The car's underside appears to be of a fairly clean nature, however there was a note on the most recent MOT suggesting a minor advisory for underside corrosion.
The TVR fires into life quickly and comfortably with a six cylinder symphony bellowing from the rear exhaust system. On the road it provides a wonderful drive, with solid brakes, excellent power delivery and crisp gear changes from the short throw manual transmission.

Summary

The perfect enthusiast automobile. The T350 is a very special car and perhaps one of the finest TVRs of the modern era. In its striking chameleon splendour this 2003 T350C is a good example of the exceedingly desirable and rare model that holds excellent potential as a candidate for a light refurbishment to bring it back to show standard.
