This is a stunning example of a 997, which has been subject to a recent engine rebuild and regular servicing. It has been used sparingly and remains in excellent overall condition. The interior and paintwork show almost no signs of use, so this car wouldn’t look out of place in the smartest of settings.  

The 997 generation of Porsche 911 is the last truly small iteration of the car, with later generations rapidly gaining in size to suit regulations. The last of the Tiptronic gearboxes before the switch to PDK in 2009, the 997.1 plays an important part in Porsche history. 

This model – finished in black with red details and complete with the GT3 aero kit – is one which should feature in any avid Porsche enthusiast’s collection. And with such care and attention lavished upon it, you can be sure that this 911 will continue to impress drivers and onlookers alike. 

 

The cabin of this 997 is a special place to be. Immediately upon opening the door, you are immersed in the quality of Porsche’s trim and finish, with the smart leather showing little sign of use, other than a few gentle creases. Other wear includes some signs of use on the driver’s window switch and a little rubbing around the ignition barrel.  
 
With its firmly supportive bucket seats, this is clearly a car designed to be driven. But flamboyant touches, such as the suede headlining and red seat belts reveal the other side of this car’s personality, which would be more than comfortable pulling up in front of the smartest of venues. 
 
The vendor reports that all the components and accessories function exactly as they should and even the original tyre repair kit and tools are all present. 

The timelessly enduring 911 shape is now firmly embedded in the pantheon of design legends. The 997 generation was applauded for bringing back the oval headlights, returning to tradition after the 996. 
 
This example beautifully exhibits its distinctive 997 curves thanks to its beautifully deep, glossy black paint, which remains in excellent condition. There is hardly a mark on it, which shows just how sparingly and carefully this car has been used. 
 
The vendor reports that the only remedial work undertaken has been a respray of the removable front splitter. This piece can easily be taken off for reasons of practicality when on the public highway, and clipped back into place once you arrive at the track. Balancing the front splitter is the rear spoiler, also part of Porsche’s GT3 package, which looks like it would provide a huge amount of downforce at speed. 
 
Elsewhere, the flamboyant Fuchs wheels set this car apart as a showpiece, confidently displaying the red Brembo brake callipers and discs . Rims such as these can only work on a car with the determined poise of this 911. The car sits on sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, which were changed in 2018 and appear to have most of their tread remaining.  

Most importantly, the engine in this particular car was subject to a full rebuild by Porsche specialists, Hartech in 2020. The accompanying invoice confirms that this was a comprehensive job, at a cost of over £2,000. 
 
A further service was carried out in 2021, replacing the brake discs and pads, as well as wishbones. The most recent stamp in the service book is dated May 2022, when an engine oil and filter change was undertaken.
 
The vendor reports that the car is in mechanically fine fettle, driving exactly as you would hope, with no unusual noises, leaks or smoke. It accelerates stonkingly quickly and corners beautifully.  

 

The Porsche 911 Carrera S is surely set to be a future modern classic machine. As a rear-wheel drive naturally aspirated 911, it offers a fantastic driving experience.

This particular example is a testament to its owners, with care and attention lavished upon it whenever necessary. And having been used sparingly since its engine rebuild, the next owner will be able to enjoy the car with confidence.
