The Appeal
Audi’s 4.2litre V8 FSI engine is one of motoring’s all-time greats. Just ask Jeremy Clarkson. When it was dropped into the B7 A4 saloon and combined with the revered Quattro drivetrain, a star super saloon was born.
The B7 RS4 really is a gem. 414bhp goes to all four wheels via a classic 6spd manual gearbox, providing the sort of superglue handling for which the original ‘UR’ Quattro was renowned.
Good as these cars are, few come along that are as good as this one. It has covered less than 20,000 miles from new, has only ever been serviced by Audi and is equipped with MOT to March 2025 with no advisories. The condition is in similar order, presenting in the photographs much as it surely did the day it left the showroom 17 years ago.

Subtle arch extensions, big rear tailpipes and silver wing mirrors are the only giveaways that this is a very different sort of B7 A4. This car leans into that theme with its subtle black paintwork. But those who know, will know.
The very low mileage of this car means the condition inside and out is very good. It is most obvious across the commonly used interior surfaces such as wheel, gearknob and driver’s seat. Here you will find few signs of wear.
Outside the sense of care continues with well kept 19in alloys, straight panels and well kept paintwork.

Dropping a big engine into a saloon car is not a new idea. What makes the RS4 B7 stand out is the quality of that engine and the limpet-like performance of its Quattro chassis.
The 4.2litre FSI V8 is naturally aspired in the RS4 yet still manages to deliver 414bhp. The standard manual 6spd gearbox provides the sort of driver engagement these cars deserve. It is nothing short of scintillating to drive but don’t just take our word for it - contemporary reviews were equally glowing. Jeremy Clarkson declared the B7 RS4 one of his favourite cars.
This example provides an opportunity to experience a very low mileage example that has been well maintained. It has only been serviced and checked by main Audi dealers, most recently 1,000 miles ago. In 2017, 3,000 miles ago, Audi undertook a full health check including over £4,500 of remedial work.
