The Appeal
Citroën H vans have an enduring appeal, with their distinctive corrugated body panels marking them out as unique vehicles on the road. They have a justifiable place in society as the go-to vehicle of choice when it comes to catering conversions.
But the van for sale here is not an old vehicle which has been retrofitted, instead it was built to order for the current owner in Singapore in 2021. It has served their business well since, and now they are only selling this van in order to get a bigger vehicle to fulfil the needs of their business.
Presented here in good condition, the van can be driven with its electric motor, with a top speed of around 35 km/h. The current owner has not registered it for use on the road, preferring to use a trailer to transport it to venues.
We’re sure this distinctive H van evocation will draw admiring glances from passers by wherever it’s taken.

The Interior

The rear load area of this van has been fitted with stainless steel catering appliances to allow the preparation and storage of food for sale. It features two fridge/freezers as well as the cold display fridge. There is an extractor fan in the roof, a sink with a pump, non-slip flooring and ample storage cupboards, as well as an electrically pumped sink.
There is a 32 amp power inlet and 240V sockets throughout. The vendor has informed us that a full PAT test has been carried out on all the appliances, and the paperwork for this can be supplied.
To the front, there is seating for a driver and passenger as well as a minimalist dashboard, which includes a radio/CD player, forward/reverse selector, light switches, and an LCD information display. The seating here is basic but functional.

One of the most distinctive features of this van is its corrugated panels, an authentic feature of the classic Citroën H van. The body appears to be in generally good condition, but with a few areas of damage to the paint, notably on the bottom edge of the rear hatch.
The door and hatch hinges are starting to show signs of corrosion, and the headlamps have suffered from the weather, but these are easily replaceable. The front bumper has a few paint chips which could be rectified without trouble. Overall, the exterior of this van looks very presentable and there is plenty of flat space for branding and advertising.
Underneath, the ladder chassis appears to be in good condition, with only a little surface corrosion beginning to show through in places. The wheels are in great condition and the tyres are said to be new.
The Mechanics

Mechanically, this van is a very simple machine. It is fitted with four 60V batteries, which are said to be nearly new and hold full charge. These power the rear wheels through a motor mounted on the rear axle casing.
While the current owner has not registered the van for use on the road, we’re told it will reach a top speed of around 35 km/h and has a range of 60km, which makes it quite a practical vehicle.

The HY has become a universally accepted symbol of good food at events far and wide. When you see one of these, you know you’re not far from a refreshing coffee, a sweet pastry or some other tasty treat.
