The Appeal
One of the most recognizable and loved cars in the world, the 500 continues to conquer ever new ranks of faithful enthusiasts.
The great diffusion and the love of its loyal owners allows it to enjoy a practically unlimited availability of spare parts of all kinds, and makes it the object of dedicated gatherings and clubs of enthusiasts who restore, personalize and tune their cars in every way.
Launched in 1968, the 500 L “Lusso” (Luxury) was a more refined and mature 500, presenting many enhancements over the previous models. The most evident difference is the adoption of chrome-plated pipes to reinforce the bumpers (the so-called Ercolino system), to offer the smallest car in Italy greater protection in car parks and urban traffic.
Outside, the new more modern rectangular FIAT emblem, less rounded wheel cups and new chrome-plated frames for the windscreen, rear window and on the side drips add some refinement, while inside a new black plastic dashboard with a larger squared dial and convenient storage pockets on the door cards and a storage tray on the central tunnel in front of the gear lever offer more practicality and give a more up-to-date look.
This particular 500 L is in excellent shape, having just received a comprehensive professional total restoration which included a full repaint in the original bright Coral Red colour and overhauled engine and mechanicals.
With just two careful and passionate owners from new and still equipped with its original number plates, this 500 is in really excellent condition and is ready to delight any enthusiast with its engaging brilliance and sympathy.
