Introduced at the 2003 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW E63 6-Series was the third BMW to exhibit Chris Bangle’s flame-sided styling language.
The 6-Series was offered as both a Coupé and a Convertible and was developed off the platform of the E60 5-Series, but with a shorter chassis and wheelbase.
This one is particularly desirable. Not only is it a 650Ci and in the best colour of Diamond Black, but it also has a comprehensive main dealer service history and has covered less than 62,000 miles from new.IMG_9718.JPG4.13 MB
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
Lots of invoices and receipts
UK V5C
MOT until September 2023
Original build sheet
Owner’s manual and leather wallet
All original booklets
Combined main dealer and independent specialist history
This machine has been well looked after and has plenty of paperwork to back this up. The photographs show the full spec sheet of the car, all the BMW visits and works carried out.
The dealer invoices show a BMW Health check that was carried out at 60,505 miles on the 14th March 2022 which shows it having a full clean bill of health. Prior to this it visited BMW Berry in Croydon at 59,905 on the 21st February 2022 with an invoice of work totalling £1,721, demonstrating a level of care that isn't usually seen of cars this age.
Earlier invoices show the attentions of the well renowned BMW and German Car Specialist "Munich Legends". They serviced the car on 24th January 2020 at a cost of £509.92 at 55,178 miles. They also carried out a health check as standard to BMW pedigree which once again gave thorough check of the car and highlighted no concerns (see photograph on report). The service before this was on 21st January 2019 at a total cost of £250.62 at 47,257. Prior to this the machine was serviced on 17th January 2018 at a cost of £747.85 at 41,680. This also included a health check which highlighted no concerns (see photograph on report). Prior to this the service was carried out on 14th December 2017 which included the all important Transmission Oil change which was another expensive maintenance task that is often not done on these machines due to the sheer cost. This was done at 41,222. The oil system was cleaned (see photograph) on 19th January 2016 by another independent specialist S & B Motors. An additional major service was carried out by the same specialist on the 19th January 2016 at 27,700 at a cost of £979.07. In total the Vendor has just under six thousand pounds in invoices.
Diamond Black is one of BMW's most popular colours - and for a very good reason. It's a deep and gleaming shade and it works really well against the 650’s substantial bodywork.
The body itself is in great condition with no notable flaws. There are no dents or scratches and what minor paint imperfections it has are barely perceptible.
The 19-inch alloy wheels are all in excellent condition and equipped with good tyres, and all of the glass, lamp lenses and trim are in fine order. It's a handsome car, and it sits ‘just right’ and stands out from the many tired and abused examples of the E63 that you see these days. Indeed, it's in such good condition that it's very hard to believe that it's over 15 years old.IMG_9740.JPG3.56 MB
THE INTERIOR
Electric Controlled Air Pump Hugging Seats
The cabin is trimmed in pale beige leather, with high end multi-adjustable massage leather seats. Much like the outside, the inside is in exceptional order with only the slightest signs of wear and certainly nothing but you tend to notice. It's a low mileage car and the interior clearly highlights this.
For example, there is no wear whatsoever to the driver’s side seat bolster, which is often damaged on these cars. The carpets and mats are excellent, too, as are the door cards.
The heated electric leather seats are multi-adjustable and the car benefits from LED puddle lights at the bottom of the mirrors to make sure you don't stand in anything unpleasant when getting in and out. There's also an M Sport steering wheel, which adds an extra dash of sportiness.
The BMW iDrive controller in the center console operates the menu screens in the car’s infotainment system, all of which appear to work correctly.
Being a range-topping model, it also has a premium audio system with incredible bass and overall sound quality.IMG_9771.JPG3.14 MB
THE MECHANICS
Peddle Shift Gear Control System
Lane assist
Rare Soft Closing doors
The 4.8-litre V8 is an absolute gem and is one of the best engines that BMW produced in the 2000s, with just the right balance between refinement and excitement.
Drive it gently and it's a serene experience. Open it up, and all hell breaks loose, accompanied by a subtle but meaningful snarl from the twin exhaust system.
As you'd expect from a car with such an impeccable service history, it runs absolutely beautifully and performs without fault, while the vendor reports that the brakes, suspension and steering are all in excellent order.IMG_9803.JPG3.44 MB
THE APPEAL
Good examples of the E63 are getting harder and harder to find and there are many abused and tired high-mileage examples around.
This, however, isn't one of them. Indeed, it is the polar opposite. If you're looking for one of the absolute best E63 Coupés on the market right now, then you can stop looking right now because here it is.
It's a lovely, low-mileage car in impeccable condition throughout, and a pretty safe bet to become a future classic.
