We are pleased to offer this very original 1, 000cc Ariel Square Four
Dating from February 1949, it is an early example of the Mk 1 4G De Luxe with aluminium engine and Anstey link rear suspension.
It was originally supplied to Kings’s Motors of Stretford, Manchester and has reportedly had a mere four owners from new.
The Ariel is fully roadworthy and presents in a delightfully ‘patinated’ condition. The fuel tank has evidently been restored fairly recently, though the panels are silver grey rather than chrome plated. The tank top instrument panel is a nice feature, very much in the style of 1930s sporting machines.
It is an easy starter and very pleasant to ride. The smooth turbine - like four cylinder motor is quite unlike anything else emanating from the British motorcycle industry yet it feels remarkably compact and not at all heavy to handle.
With the Ariel comes a Dating Certificate issued by Draganfly Motorcycles, V5C, a copy of the workshop manual and an original owner’s handbook.
Being such a desirable motorcycle, Square Fours rarely come onto the market. This is therefore a rare opportunity to acquire something distinctive and different.
