Where do we start with this one, just look at the pictures and take in this highly desirable genuine T1 ‘split screen’ 1966 VW Canterbury Pitt camper van. Truly resplendent in it’s original colour scheme of White over Blue. It was converted to the specification you see here for the first owner from a factory micro bus.
The interior is a delight, all the period accessories are still in place and they all work as far as we know!
As soon as you turn the key you realise your not starting up a ‘standard motor’. Fitted with a 1641cc engine with the 4 speed manual ‘overdrive’ gearbox. The engine pulls very strong with the gearbox effortlessly changing through the gears. The steering system has been overhauled. The suspension has been poly bushed. The brakes are the original drums front & rear, pulls you up to a stop remarkably well. The distributor has been replaced with an electronic system, no more changing points and condenser at the side of the road..
Even though this ‘splitty’ wouldn’t be put to shame on the show circuits, it is fully functional for holidays away around the camp fire or put the surfboards on the roof and head down to Cornwall. The original table, cooker, wardrobe etc are crying out to be used. If your feeling brave, hook your trailer up to the towbar and take the fishing trailer for a true experience.
