Sunbeam Rapier Series V – A Stunning Car
The Routes Group introduced the Sunbeam Rapier in 1955 - the car was designed in-house with the trans-Atlantic styling inspired by the new generation of Studebaker Coupes. The final (Series V) incarnation had upgraded engine/ gearbox and is widely acknowledged as the most attractive with flowing lines and performance to match
The Series V is the rarest of all the Rapiers with just 3, 759 examples manufactured. Our example has had just six owners from new and is in lovely condition. She was restored around twelve years ago and the metallic paint work remains in outstanding condition and compliments the light tan/ wood trim interior - it is an absolutely stunning combination.
On the road the Sunbeam is a pleasure to drive, performs as good as she looks with brisk acceleration/ excellent road manners and no mechanical issues. The large history file includes old style V5’s, MOT’s/ invoices back to 1987 and a lovely ‘For Sale’ notice displayed on the car at the 1987 Sunbeam Club National Show.
