Chassis No: 60316

Believed to be one of the earliest if not the earliest Mk 1 Riley 9 Tourer, this Australian bodied "Colonial " 2 seat Tourer is in exemplary condition.
Riley cars manufactured between 1927 and 1935 had the prefix of 60 followed by sequential numbers. The Sales Ledger for 1927/ 28 season, held at the British Motor Museum, includes this car. It was ordered on the 20th September 1927 and delivered to the shipping agents on the 15th November 1927.
Fast forward a few decades and it was bought by Noel Wyatt, marvellous restorer and engineer, who owned the car twice; the second time in 1983 acquiring it as a big box of bits. Over the next decade Noel completely restored the Riley and campaigned it around South Australia.
This great little Riley was reimported in 2017 and acquired its present registration number. The engine is correct for 1927/ 8 and the gearbox is a 4 speed box with right hand mounted gearchange and cone clutch. The rear axle as originally a 6:1 unit but has been replaced with a 4. 89 unit. The wheels are 21 inch Dunlop Artillery type giving a higher ride height (important for antipodean road conditions in the `20s.
A beautifully presented Riley from the dawn of Riley 9 motoring - well worth considering.
