MG Midget – Tifosi Rana Frogeye Evocation
The Tifosi Rana Frogeye inspired recreation is a kit based on an MG Midget/ Sprite
chassis that provides a sports car with the looks/ character of an original Frogeye
Sprite but with improved performance and parts availability. Previously sold by us and only on the market to make way for a AC Cobra replica.
Our example was built as a labour of love by Greg Day, owner of Sussex Classic
Cars parts. A low mileage/ 2 owner 1967 MG Midget was stripped down to a bare
shell, all under-seal removed and the monocoque prepared to receive the Tifso
Rana body kit that was then finished in the original 1960 colour option of leaf
green.
All steering/ suspension components (front & rear) were completely replaced and
the engine, gearbox & back axle rebuilt - this included all brake components,
clutch system, fuel system etc. At the same time the interior and dashboard were
replaced and new wire wheels fitted with the whole project taking over two years
to complete
The finished car is an absolute testament to Greg and his father who wanted to
create a car better than the original. The ‘Frogeye’ drives as tight as a drum with
excellent performance and pinpoint handling – it really is an utter delight to drive.
