The Appeal

The NG TC Roadster is one of the best-known designs from NG Cars, the company founded by aeronautical and vehicle design engineer Nick Green. The TC combines traditional British sports car styling with specialist construction and proven MG/MGB mechanical components. The car is correctly registered on the V5C as an MG TC Roadster, using components from a 1964 MGB donor vehicle.

It is believed to have been completed in 1982 and remained with one registered keeper from build until 2026. Finished in burgundy, the car has classic TC-style presence, with boat-tail bodywork, separate wings, running boards, exposed headlamps, an upright grille, chrome wire wheels, side-mounted spare wheel and twin racing-style aero screens. The standard of build is a major feature. The car presents to a very high standard throughout and appears to have been superbly built using new or reconditioned components throughout. Although MOT exempt, the car benefits from a voluntary MOT valid until May 2027 with no advisories. The car is in the historic taxation class at zero rate.

The Vendor says:

“The car presents to a very high standard throughout and appears to have been professionally built using new or reconditioned components. The engine bay is immaculate, the underside presents to the same standard as the magnificent exterior. The chassis and underside have been finished with quality protective treatment, including powder-coated components.

Build Quality and Condition

Although little is known about the original build itself, the quality and standard of the car strongly suggest that it was either professionally built or assembled from new components to a very high standard.

The engine bay is immaculate, and the underside presents to the same standard as the exterior. The chassis and underside have been finished with quality protective treatment, including powder-coated components, giving the car the appearance of a carefully executed and properly preserved build rather than a basic home-assembled kit.

Engine and Drivetrain

The car is fitted with an MG/BMC B-Series 1798cc four-cylinder engine, recorded on the V5C as engine number GA214641HE. This identifies it as an MGB-type high-compression 1.8-litre unit.
It is fitted with twin SU HS4 carburettors, with the front carburettor identified by its AUD325F tag.

The engine is paired with an MGB four-synchro manual gearbox.

Mechanical Specification

The specification is simple, proven and very well suited to the lightweight NG TC.

The car benefits from:
  • Electronic ignition
  • Alternator charging
  • Braided brake lines
  • Heater
  • MGB running gear
  • Strong MG/MGB parts availability

This gives the car usable, reliable classic motoring while retaining the character of a traditional British roadster.

Interior and Details

The cockpit is neatly finished with black leather bucket seats with red piping, an aluminium engine-turned dashboard, MGB instrumentation and a three-spoke leather-rimmed steering wheel.

The car is fitted with chrome wire wheels, including a matching rear-mounted spare, and twin racing-style aero screens.
