Motodrome offer for sale this left hand drive example of one of our favourite 1970’s sports coupes – a 1974 BMW E9 2500CS A, finished in Garnet Red metallic with black vinyl roof (no sunroof) and black interior.
This was the last variant of the E9 to be introduced, in response to the 1973 oil crisis, and is one of 874 so built. It seems however that BMW didn’t bother to change the chassis plate to reflect the smaller engine, so it still reads 3. 0CS (and is registered as such with the DVLA, albeit with the engine displacement as 2478cc)
Fitted with automatic transmission, power steering, electric windows, Mahle BBS alloys, sports seats and rear headrests.
Odometer reading 84000 kms – given new oil filter, air filter, spark plugs and an oil change in May 2019.
Originally registered in Germany, this one, we’re told, spent it’s first 10 years in mainland Europe before coming to the UK in 1984, and it’s been here since. It comes with the dateless plate shown in the photos. Being a 1974 car, it now qualifies for UK MOT exemption, however it has recent MOT history having been MOT'd up until summer 2016, with no advisories
It’s eminently useable and turns lots of heads out on the road, being one of the most stylish cars BMW have ever produced, but would benefit from further investment to make a really nice one. .
