The Appeal
Specification is everything, and this Jaguar Mark 2 ticks all the right boxes for enthusiasts of the marque. As a UK-supplied 3.8-litre manual car with overdrive, it boasts all the features collectors are looking for. Better still, it's matching numbers and colours, comes with Coombes-style rear arches, has an aftermarket power steering upgrade, and has been voluntarily submitted for MOT, passing with no advisories.
Beloved of cops and robbers alike, the Mark 2 was quick, handled brilliantly, and stopped well thanks to disc brakes. They're immensely usable classics, perfect for road trips, family outings, or a spirited drive on your favourite twisties.
Our car was originally supplied by the prestigious Henlys of London dealership and is still wearing its original registration number. Finished in its factory-correct Cotswold Blue colour, it cuts quite a dash, as the photographs attest. The current owner has maintained the Jag fastidiously, with recent mechanical work including rebuilt brake callipers, a rebuilt master cylinder, and rebuilt carburettors.
The vendor tells us:
"I have loved every minute of owning this car, it was a boyhood dream to own a mark 2 Jaguar especially one with the coveted 3.8 engine, and the only reason I'm selling it is because of work commitments I am not able to use it as much as I would have hoped to and have only driven it about 350 miles or so to car shows etc."
