The Appeal
The W113-generation Mercedes-Benz SL is one of the marque’s most admired post-war designs, combining Paul Bracq’s elegant styling with impressive refinement, robust engineering and effortless grand touring ability. Affectionately known as the ‘Pagoda’ thanks to its distinctive concave hardtop, it remains one of the most recognisable and desirable classic Mercedes-Benz models.
Introduced to bridge the gap between the 230 SL and 280 SL, the 250 SL is the rarest variant of the W113 family, having been produced for little more than a year between December 1966 and January 1968.
Offered from long-term ownership, this example is said to be in fine mechanical health following recent maintenance and a previous engine rebuild. The interior was also refurbished approximately 15 years ago and remains highly presentable. As noted by the seller, the next custodian may choose either to enjoy the car in its current condition or undertake a more extensive cosmetic restoration and respray. Either way, it represents an appealing opportunity to acquire a well-documented Pagoda with established provenance and considerable potential.
